C-Tech’s Introduction to Telephone Systems and VoIP provides students with both a theoretical and hands-on knowledge of Key Telephone Systems and Voice Mail. Key Systems are the telephone switches found in small and medium-sized businesses, about 85% of all business in the US. The overwhelming majority of these systems (95%) also have voice mail installed. The skills taught in ISVM are practical and in-demand.

Students are taught to install, program, maintain, and upgrade these systems by completing project-based activities. The ISVM program meets industry standards for certification of installation and repair of Key Systems, and it’s 75% hands-on. The course is non-manufacturer-specific (a real telephone switch is used, but provision is made for the practices of other manufacturers) and thus can lead to jobs with a variety of employers.

We at C-Tech call this short-term certification program “The Next Step” because it’s the perfect follow-up to C-Tech’s PREP program—a practical application of the skills learned in PREP. Along the way they learn teamwork, troubleshooting, and customer relations. Each student who successfully completes Introduction to Telephone Systems and VoIP receives certification as a Voice Communication Professional.
