Cabling Inside the Wire
As part of C-Tech’s increasing commitment to training in correctional facilities, we have completed a full PREP course at SCI Rockview just outside Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Rockview is a medium security institution for men that’s been in operation since 1915.
Fred Smith, a C-Tech instructor, taught PREP to twenty inmates over the course of three weeks. He reports a high degree of enthusiasm and dedication to the training. Students made up tests and quizzes they had missed on their own time, or sought additional instruction. The result? Eighteen students scored 90% or better on the final exam. The remaining two scored 80% or better, despite the obstacles they encountered.
At the end of the course, the students presented Fred with a thank-you card to show their appreciation. One student wrote: “You’ve helped to open an entirely new and exciting avenue for me for solid knowledge and employment, and have helped me grow a bit by paving the way for my future.” Another simply wrote: “It was a great experience. Thank you.”
Under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, and in partnership with Pennsylvania State University, C-Tech will continue to offer quality training to the inmates of Rockview and other correctional institutions.
