East is East and West is West…but they both come together at C-Tech. This June’s Instructor PREP training included instructors from the states of Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New York. How was the training? As usual, everyone wanted more time to practice, and they’ll get that at home. Instructor training packs a lot into five days. Typical was one instructor’s remark, “I’ll be training students to be entry-level technicians, and I’m ready to be an entry-level teacher.” Another instructor pointed out, “Not only do we learn how to do these jobs, we learn why.” His one regret was not seeing a bear while he was here.
Instructor Larry Benjamin covers the fine points. Everyone praised the interaction and hands-on nature of the course. Everyone praised our star instructor, Larry Benjamin: “Larry was great”; “ One instructor compared his experience with classes he had taken at Temple University and said “Larry is the poster child for vocational education.” One non-educational highlight was a trip to Skylands Park in nearby Augusta to see a baseball game between Sussex County’s own New Jersey Cardinals and the Williamsport Crosscutters. (Cards won, 4 to 2.)
Take me out to the ball game. Some instructors had interesting stories to tell. Click here to read a remarkable success story from G. W. Carver Magnet School. Click here to find out more about PREP at Gulf Coast Trades. |
