Siemon, STI Sponsor Students
Industry and Education Converge

Success at this year's Cabling Lab at the Association for Career and Technical Education national convention in December was secured in part by the generosity of two of C-Tech's Program Recognizers, The Siemon Company (www.siemon.com) and Specified Technologies, Inc. (www.stifirestop.com).

Siemon, who joined the growing list of Program Recognizers in October, sponsored Gail Hall and Shannon Dickey from the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center, Lubbock, TX.
“We are very excited about providing these young ladies from Byron Martin with this wonderful opportunity to showcase the skills they learned while earning their Network Cabling Specialist certification,” shares Mike Clemens, Siemon’s Marketing Manager.  “The Cabling Lab is an innovative way of demonstrating to teachers and administrators the value of the training being taught in today’s schools.”

“It is a rare opportunity for our students to get this type of authentic experience,” states Bill Landis, Technology Director for the Lubbock Independent School District.  “This kind of activity gives them unique insights into the real world of technology.  Siemon Company has provided our students with the chance to see the actual world of technology from an adult view.  I cannot express how valuable this experience is to our students and to their future.  Partners such as Siemon Company help us mold the future through the experiences of our students.”

Specified Technologies has been a Program Recognizer since 2001.  Along with C-Tech, STI co-sponsored Ray Koons and Tom Duff from Sussex Tech, Sparta, NJ.  “We have chosen to support Sussex Tech and the ACTE because it is important that educators get an inside look into the hands-on training that is being taught in our schools.  The ACTE Cabling Lab is an innovative approach to demonstrating the in-demand and important skills that students are receiving through programs such as C-Tech’s,” according to Raymond J. Bruno, STI’s Vice President of Marketing.  “It is very important to maintain and promote the relationship between Industry and Education.  STI is excited to be to able to lend a hand.”

Along with Program Recognizers Berk-Tek
(www.berktek.com), Hubbell Premise Wiring (www.hubbell-premise.com), Leviton Voice & Data (www.levitonvoicedata.com) and Ortronics (www.ortronics.com), Siemon and STI also donated products and contributed money so that students and instructors had special shirts to wear at the event.
