More Spending = More Opportunity
In an article published on July 30, 2003, writer
Marilyn O'Hara describes a substantial increase in Federal spending on "IT
telecommunications and networking products and services during the next five
years."
The spending is expected to reach $17 billion by
2008; $5.5 billion more than is being spent this year. A fairly even
amount of spending is expected between the public and private sectors.
This announcement is just another of many recent
signs to mark an upswing in the IT industry and the need for trained
technicians. With 12% of the money slated for network services, and 7%
for equipment, technicians skilled in Copper and Fiber Optic-based cabling
as well as Telephony are going to be in high demand.
By providing your students with these
skills now, you will be preparing them for a very bright future.
