Certification Leads to Promotion for NCS
More Success from Houston Community College

Success Stories just keep on happening at Houston Community College.  In March, 2002 (vol.8, p.2), c | t | f reported the success of student/entrepreneur Jim Woods, who created NetCruzin Technologies, an outsource for Network Cabling solutions, soon after certifying as a Network Cabling Specialist (NCS) at HCC.  The recent September issue (vol.10, p.3) chronicled the Job Placement success of Anna Fowler for certified NCS students out of the HCC program.

Recently we received a communication from yet another product of the Houston Community College program, taught through the Department of Industrial Electronics.  We are proud to pass it on through this newsletter:

“I took the C-Tech Certified Network Cabling Specialist course a little over a year ago.  After passing the final test and receiving my certification, I began working for a broadband services contractor with Time-Warner Telecommunication (Cable) installing cable modems, HDTV converters, and home networks (wired and wireless).  Well, this past week I was promoted to a management position after being with the company for just over a year.  The person that I was up against had been with the company a little longer than I, so I was a bit surprised that I got the job.  When I asked the Project Manager why I was chosen over the other candidate, he said that it was because I was Certified in Copper and Fiber Optic networking.

“Thank you, C-Tech and Houston Community College, for providing me the skills that I needed to be placed ahead of the line.”

Anthony Stortz, Network Cabling Specialist

Houston, Texas

c | t | f congratulates Anthony on his promotion and a pay raise as well and encourages students, faculty, and administrators to continue sharing their Success Stories.
